“Building Our Future Together” – Rev. Bill Gupton
Sunday Worship, March 26, 2023
One of the truly amazing, awe-inspiring things about a religious community – a church family, if you will – like ours, is that we each bring our own gifts to the table, and pool our resources for the common good. This month we have begun the conversation about what we want Heritage Church to look like, do, and be in the year ahead. Today we begin the process of making that vision a reality by committing (and recommitting) ourselves to support the work and mission of this church we love. Come be inspired by choral and congregational singing, by our shared dreams of the future, by our young people – and by the Love that is the spirit of this church!

“The Day the World Changed” – Rev. Bill Gupton
Sunday Worship, March 19, 2023
Three years ago this week, our church – and much of the world – entered what we believed, at the time, would be a brief one or two week pause. A short, surreal vacation. Little did anyone realize we were at the beginning of an almost complete shutdown. Little did we know how much our lives – and our world – were about to change. This morning we look back at what we’ve lost, what we’ve gained, and how different things are now – three years into the pandemic.

“Live Long and Prosper: Finding Faith on the Final Frontier” – Laci Lee Adams
Sunday Worship, March 12, 2023
“Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before!”
The opening monologue of many, though not all, Star Trek franchises is nearly as famous as Star Trek’s contributions to representation, culture, politics and economics. With the resurgence of Star Trek in our popular culture, let us boldly go where few have gone before – into the world of religion in Star Trek! Whether it be the influence of atheism and secular humanism on Gene Roddenberry’s vision for Star Trek, the representations of Jewish mysticism in Leonard Nemoy’s portrayal of Spock, or discerning the difference between wormhole aliens and gods – the imagination and creativity of Star Trek is fertile ground for helping us find and describe aspects of our faith (whether you are into Star Trek or not!). Our captain for this continuing mission will be Laci Lee Adams, Director of Lifespan Faith Development!

“Healing Waters” – Rev. Bill Gupton
Sunday Worship, February 26, 2023
Each year, at the end of summer, members and friends of Heritage Church bring water from locations near and dear to us – locations far and near – to pour together into a common vessel, in our annual Ingathering Water Ceremony. That water is then used, throughout the year, as we dedicate babies, honor lives lost, and on other ritual occasions. This Sunday, now half a cycle around the sun since our waters were gathered in, we will consecrate them again to wash away pain and sorrow, cleansing our spirits. Today, our hands – and our hearts – will be touched by holy water. Come experience this simple but profound ritual of healing and grace. We will also enjoy the beautiful music of our HUUC Choir.
