“Roots and Rabbit Holes”

Sunday, February 16, 2025, 10:30 a.m.

Rev. Bill Gupton leads this service.

As his retirement from ministry approaches, our Senior Minister has found himself being drawn more and more to researching, and considering his relationship with, his ancestors. With help from his late mother — who in her lifetime did a considerable amount of family research — as well as Heritage’s resident genealogist, Doug Beezley, and others, Rev. Bill is piecing together a rather extensive family tree. Like many before him, what he’s learning is challenging his previous understanding of his roots. But remember the line from our hymn of invocation: “Roots hold me close; wings set me free.” Today we will journey with Rev. Bill and Doug into what family trees can mean.
