Summer Solstice Celebration

Thursday, June 21, 2018, at 8:30 p.m., near the back parking lot.

Celebrate the longest day of the year at Heritage by honoring the knowledge that darkness will follow the light.

We will celebrate at the fire in the back! Please bring a snack to share.

Starhawk reminds us that “The cycles of light and dark, growth and decay, are part of life. They are woven into our cells, our bones, and we forget them at our peril. For if we try to cling to youth without accepting age, we become like the evil Queen in Snow White, blighting all around us in our quest for private immortality. If we expect endless growth and expansion, without contraction and constraints, we become a cancer on the face of the earth. But if we understand and embrace the balance, if we remember that dark must follow light, and that it is the season of lengthening darkness that brings us the fruits of summer and the rewards of growth, we can flourish. Age can bring us wisdom. Gardeners know that from decay comes fertile compost. Even death can bring us a deeper appreciation of the fleeting beauty of life.”
