    Potluck Lunch

Second Sunday Potluck Lunch – March 10, 2024 in the Great Hall

Have you ever heard of UU food? A HUUC (Heritage) youth once described it as “kale, quinoa, and tofu yuck!” Most attendees describe the HUUC potluck as delicious diversity with a side of community – spanning healthy/unique alternatives to comfort foods to hedonistic delights with a chance to break bread, literally, with old and new friends. HUUC serves that up to our community every second Sunday of the month. Vegans and carnivores alike are satisfied. Just bring something to share for the second Sunday of the month potluck lunch directly after service.

You’re not a good cook, you say? Stop by the nearby Newtown UDF on the drive in to church and pick up something. That trick works even when you only remember it is Potluck Sunday on your way to church. Still, HUUC potlucks are like the biblical “loaves and fishes,” there is always enough to feed everyone whether you bring something or not. No judgment is served. The potluck is a great opportunity to meet fellow members and friends while enjoying what one member described as “the best meal of the month.” Come join the monthly feast!

  • Books & Bling & Other Things Annual Sale

Books & Bling & Other Things Annual Sale

    Friday & Saturday, April 26 & 27, 2024 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Great Hall

In recent years, HUUC has successfully sponsored two separate sales as fundraising efforts. One was Books & Bling, the other, a rummage sale. This upcoming spring, these two sales are combined into one big blowout event –– Books & Bling & Other Things! This new sale will be Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the great hall. To be successful, your donations are needed.

Donations of books and “bling” –– jewelry and other fashion accessories, including scarves and purses –– may be brought to the church beginning Sunday, April 7. Leave these items in the classroom closest to the Heritage Room.

Because of limited storage, donations of “other things” should not be brought to the church until Sunday, April 21. These donations may include household items, home décor, framed art, tools, toys, sporting goods, musical instruments, collectibles, antiques, and smaller furniture pieces. (No electronics or DVDs or CDs. please. Also, do not donate promotional items, e.g., water bottles with the name of a local hospital, since they do not sell.)

The donations of “other things” must be clean, in good condition, and (to streamline the set-up process) priced. The suggested rule for pricing is 10% of retail. (Books and bling are sold at set rates, so do not need to be priced.)

A call for volunteers to help with this effort will be announced in the coming weeks.

All proceeds from this sale go to HUUC.

For more information, including how to donate items outside of the schedule above, contact Barb at 513.314.8705 or at:
