How to Make our Deficit Budget Balanced

Dear HUUC Members and Friends,

Many thanks to all who attended our Annual Meeting on June 1, 2025 both in person and virtually. We had a very healthy and active Q & A session on the budget for our next church fiscal year, and we approved the budget as proposed.

Based on our current projected pledge total of $202,000 the approved budget contains a $5,800 deficit. In my remarks on June 1, I asked that we all come together to erase this deficit with what amounts to a modest pledge increase of about $65 per pledge if we can all chip in. Of course, not every pledging member and friend is in a position to offer an increase, but if you are, please be generous.

Simply reply to me to let me know what amount you’d like to add to your pledge to:

and I’ll take care of the tallying and recordkeeping. And if you need a reminder of what you have pledged for next fiscal year, just let me know.

All the best,

Reid

June 9 Addendum:

Dear HUUC Members and Friends,

Many, many thanks to all of our pledgers who have stepped up to increase their pledge after our Annual Meeting just over a week ago. I am very happy to report that we have received enough additional pledge support to have moved past deficit territory in our projected budget for the next church fiscal year.

That said, I am still accepting pledge increases! We have aggressive fundraising and 13th month pledge campaign goals in next year’s budget, so the more we can bolster our income with pledge commitments now, the more likely it is that we can truly end the year with a balanced budget. And with a strong foundation of pledges this year, we’ll be in an even better position to plan for a 26-27 budget that allows us to restore some key benefits for our staff.

If you have not yet confirmed your pledge for next year or if you have not yet taken the time to consider further increasing your pledge, it’s not too late. Just reply to this email to let me know if you’re willing to increase your pledge.

All the best,

Reid
