A Summer of Love for our Kids and Families

by Laci Adams, HUUC DLFD

When the sun is shining bright, and the days are longer, there’s no better place to be than at Heritage UU Church. This summer, we’re diving into a theme that’s warm, welcoming, and wonderfully enriching: the Summer of Love. Our children and youth summer programming is crafted to foster community, celebrate diversity, and engage in acts of kindness and service. We won’t have RE (religious education) programming every Sunday over the summer, but when we do gather it will be a lively, engaging, and an exciting opportunity to connect.

June: Kicking Off with Self-Love and Pride

June is all about setting a strong foundation with self-love and celebrating Pride. On June 2, we invite you to join us for Love of Self day. It’s a perfect start for introspection and self-appreciation, crucial for building a loving community.

On June 16, we have an all-ages worship service dedicated to Pride. This is a vibrant celebration of diversity and inclusion, where everyone is encouraged to come as they are and share the love.

July: Building Community and Sweet Treats

July continues the celebration with a focus on the love of community on July 14. This day is all about connecting with others, building friendships, and strengthening our communal bonds.

On July 28, we’re adding a sweet twist with an all-ages worship service featuring ice cream and other desserts. It’s a delightful way to gather and enjoy the simple pleasures of summer together.

August: Service Projects and Special Blessings

August is a month of giving back and special blessings. On August 4, we engage in a service project focusing on the love of world. It’s a hands-on opportunity for everyone to contribute positively to our environment and community.

August 18 is a touching day with backpack blessings, an all-ages worship service where we prepare and bless backpacks for the upcoming school year, ensuring our children start their academic journey with love and support.

Finally, we close the summer with our traditional water communion on August 25. This all-ages worship service is a beautiful ceremony when we come together to share water collected from our summer travels, symbolizing the unity and diversity of our congregation.

Share the Love Days

Throughout the summer, we have designated Share the Love days. These are special days where we encourage you to bring a family new to Heritage UU Church. Join our RE families at 10 a.m. in the Great Hall or on the playground for donuts, a warm welcome, and an introduction to our loving community.

Join us for a summer filled with love, connection, and community. We can’t wait to share these special moments with you at Heritage UU Church.
