“New & Old: The Kin-dom Option”

Sunday December 29, 2024, 10:30 a.m.

Rev. Doak Mansfield, HUUC Minister Emeritus, leads this service.

The times are a challenge. In a few weeks, a new regime will take over in Washington, Rev Doak says of his message. “I’ll speak of the spiritual resources my personal and professional life has taught me. Life offers fine lessons!”

Doak served as HUUC’s minister from 1975 to 1985, and led the relocation from Salem Road to old Anderson High School and to HUUC’s present location. An avid amateur historian, he has served seven congregations during his fifty-year career, as well as ministry with the US Army Reserve (eight years as chaplain) and hospital chaplain. He received a successful heart transplant in 2010. Doak is the author of five books, two fiction (Mockingbird’s Ballad, Jones of Old Lincoln) and three non-fiction works (An Irreverent Guide to Spirituality,  Kin-Ship Spirituality, and The Kin-dom Option). He is a portrait artist/caricaturist, old movie fan, avid reader, and will choose almost anything related to history over any other option for fun or recreation.
