Can a novel successfully blend the topics of assisted suicide and a possible murder without being depressing or crass? Yes, say several reviewers of the Heritage Women’s Book Club (Babes with Books or the BWB) selection for the group’s July 20 meeting. One Amazon.com commentary regarding the book Exit, by Belinda Bauer, states, “Bauer injects the subject of assisted dying with wit and humor but doesn’t lessen the gravity of the subject at all.”
The Babes may or may not discuss this book, depending on their whims, during the July 20 gathering since the group is reviving their tradition of a pool party/potluck. This gathering will occur at a new venue – the home of Vicki Freimuth, 25 Locust Hill Road, Cincinnati, OH 45245. The party starts at 6 p.m. For more information, contact Vicki at 513-843-7713.
Our future reading selections are as follows, subject to change a month prior to the meeting date:
August 17 – The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, by Kim Michele Richardson
September 21 – Wish You were Here, by Jodi Picoult
October 19 – Three Words for Goodbye, by Hazel Gaynor & Heather Webb
November 16 – Search, by Michelle Huneven
December 21 – holiday party and film – yet to be determined
January 18 – The Lincoln Highway, by Amor Towles
All women (be they members or friends) are always invited to any BWB meeting – whether they have read the book or not. Unless otherwise announced, the meeting’s selection is available on hold for the Heritage Book Club at the Anderson Township branch of the Hamilton County library approximately a month in advance.
For inclusion in the BWB Google group emails, or to get the email address for the BWB Scribe, contact the Heritage Church office.
