Sunday, October 11: “All Souls Sunday”

“Jerusalem, Plate 41” (detail), by William Blake.

Rev. Bill Gupton

Each fall, we honor and remember those in our lives whom we have lost in the past year. This collective, congregational memorial service gives us a chance to share our sadness, acknowledge that our grieving lasts more than just a few days or weeks, and lift up our Universalist belief in the inherent worth of all souls.

If a loved one has died in the past 12 months, and you’d like to have them honored this Sunday, please contact Rev. Bill. Send their name as you want it to be remembered, dates of birth and death, and a digital photo that we can share during the service. You can contact Rev. Bill by sending email to:

Note: Normally we celebrate All Souls Sunday on the first Sunday in November, but this year, since that is two days before Election Day, we are moving this annual service up to October 11.

Also on October 11, between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m., you are invited to come to a “Drive-Thru” event at Heritage Acres Memorial Sanctuary, 796 Locust Corner Road 45245 (get directions here: https://www.heritageacresmemorial.org/directions-to-heritage-acres/). Our “Drive-Thru Water Ceremony” in August was so popular, we want to offer another chance for the Heritage community to safely gather, even if just in our cars. This will be a chance to see familiar HUUC faces, experience the natural and spiritual beauty of Heritage Acres, and pay our respects to those Heritage members who are buried there – Connie Booth and Nancy Ott. Rev. Bill will be there to greet you, and offer a blessing for your departed loved ones, in a continuation of our morning’s All Souls Sunday service. For more information contact Rev. Bill at:
