This Sunday, our children and youth will learn about listening to their inner voice through the practices involved during a child-friendly Vesper service. They’ll hear a few very short stories or poems written for children about taking time to slow down; that it’s okay to make mistakes and the importance of being thankful for and taking care of our planet Earth and all living things. After each reading, we’ll sing a short, repetitive chant and have fun drumming with a variety of percussion instruments. Then, there will be a short period of quietness for each child to experience silence and stillness (as best as they are able!).
Weather and ground conditions permitting, we will be outside in our church’s outdoor chapel so please have the children dress ready to be sitting outdoors.
If any child has access to a percussion instrument, including homemade items, like drumsticks or smaller drums, they are welcome to bring it with them to church to play during the chants.
