What wild, wacky, or unexpected adventures do you have on your summer horizons? Is your family planning a staycation or a vacation? Are you looking forward to planting a garden or swimming so much you sprout gills?
One of the great joys of summer is leaving the rhythms and structures of the year behind to seek out new experiences and adventures! So, we figured that maybe we should do things a little bit differently this summer as well! Starting in June we will begin shifting away from every Sunday morning Religious Education (RE) programming, but will instead be offering community building opportunities during the month for families. Each month, will include an all-family social gathering and a service opportunity. Additionally, for families attending Sunday worship, there will be more emphasis on All Ages services throughout the summer and special augmented orders of service designed to make worship interesting and accessible to our young people. Our Summer of Love is designed to help our families connect with each other in new and exciting ways and to allow our kids and their parents to make deeper connections outside of the “traditional” RE time.
Each month of summer will have its very own Summer of Love theme. Pride for June. Possibilities for July. Peace for August.
June will be our time of transition, so you can expect the following during our Sunday mornings worship/RE time:
- June 5th – All Ages Service, lead by Laci, focused on celebrating gender diversity and expression
- June 12th – RE End-of-Year Celebration
- June 19th – First Summer All Ages Service (look out for the souped up order of service)
- June 26th – Its Pride Weekend, so more details on our June service opportunity will be forthcoming
