Wednesdays, November 9th and 30th, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., in the Heritage Room
Patriarchy could be defined as “a system that encompasses a worldview, arrangements about how we live as humans with each other on this planet, implicit blueprints for what kinds of institutions we create, and guidelines for what to do with our young to prepare them for the system itself. The underlying principle of patriarchy, is separation and control. The separation is from self, other, life, and nature.”
Come along as we explore what the patriarchy is and how it affects our lives.
Wednesday, November 9th, 7:00-8:30 p.m. SESSION 1: WOMEN in a Patriarchal Society
The patriarchy affects women on many levels; everything from finances to health to relationships to sex to the environment. Let’s move beyond how we are oppressed by the patriarchy. We will examine how women participate and benefit in the patriarchy.
Wednesday, November 30th, 7:00-8:30 p.m. SESSION 2: MEN and the Patriarchy Society
Yes, the patriarchy affects men too. They are subject to rigid gender norms, toxic masculinity and suppressed emotions.
These are independent sessions; you can attend one or both.
