The Art Committee exists to enhance the visual appeal of shared church spaces (excludes Religious Education classrooms and all business and personal offices). Its main focus is to arrange art displays in the Great Hall featuring artists from the Tri-State area, which may result in added income to the operating budget of the church. Art will be displayed in the months between September – June.
The Art Committee will collaborate in a cooperative manner with the Worship Committee regarding selection and placement of wall displays in the sanctuary. (This does not include visual displays used in presentations, floral arrangements, hallway bulletin boards or the physical set-up of the worship space.) The HUUC treasurer and office manager will assure a smooth operation of any sales of art, including timely payments to the artist and deposits to the HUUC account. The office manager will assist with record-keeping and redirecting telephone inquiries to an Art Committee member.
The Art Committee consists of two-four HUUC members or friends. There is a Board Liaison.
Selection of Members
As people express interest, they may be invited to join the committee. An annual invitation for new members will be made each August.
Members must be willing to contact artists, obtain a signed release, assist and supervise the hanging/take-down of art. Members will assist in the transport of art unless the artist prefers to transport. Members may prepare news releases to Cincinnati and community newspapers, and other media.
Each member of the Art Committee should be willing to serve at least two years. Before a person leaves the committee, a replacement would, ideally, be identified.
