A church congregation is laughing.

Sunday, March 31: “It's Okay to Laugh in Church”

Chris Whittaker

Come prepared to chuckle, smirk, titter and guffaw! Heritage member Chris Whittaker will share her reflection on laughter as a spiritual practice. Unitarian Universalists are very good at being serious, but sometimes it is important to remember how to find the divine in laughter. This is an all-ages worship service with nursery and preschool care available. The youth choir will be providing special music.

Worship Associate: Lou Kerr.

Sunday, April 7: “Whose Church Is It, Anyway?”

Sunday, April 7: “Whose Church Is It, Anyway?”

Rev. Leslie Woodward

When most Unitarian Universalist congregations gather for worship, social justice activities, or simply for fellowship and community, they tend to gather in age-segregated silos. The question is, “Why?” Today, many UU congregations are finding that intergenerational faith experiences uniquely nurture spiritual growth and development in both adults and children. Our Assistant Minister for Religious Exploration, the Rev. Leslie Woodward, reflects on what she learned about new models of faith formation during her recent sabbatical. We will also enjoy music from the Heritage Church Choir.

Worship Associate: Suzanne Horton.

Sunday, April 14: "Us & Them" – A play for our time for sure!

Feriel Feldman and Bob Lamb

The Junior and Senior High Youth groups have banded together to produce this play just for you! Synopsis: Two groups of people are simultaneously looking for a place to live. They happen on the same piece of land at the same time. What could go wrong?! ~ This is an all-ages worship service with nursery and preschool care available.

Sunday, April 21: Easter Sunday and Flower Communion

Rev. Bill Gupton with Rev. Leslie Woodward

Bring the entire family to church today for a special Heritage morning of ritual and community. We will be celebrating Easter Sunday, as well as our Unitarian Universalist Flower Communion – and after the service, we’ll break bread together in our monthly potluck lunch. Please bring with you both a fresh-cut flower to offer in our flower ritual, and a dish to share during potluck. Our wonderful Choir will sing, the sanctuary will be beautified by our flowers, and our spirits will be lifted with the inspiration of spring and rebirth.

Lake Pontchartrain Causeway South: Image of looking down a road that goes over a long bridge over water.

Sunday, April 28: “Walls and Bridges”

 Rev. Bill Gupton

There has been a lot of talk about walls in the past couple of years. Rather than walling ourselves off from the world, and from each other, perhaps we should be talking about building bridges between our divisions. This morning we will also welcome new members into our church family, and enjoy the music of a special singing ensemble.

Worship Associate: Roger Miller.

Headshot of Rev. Connie Simon, preaching.

Sunday, May 5: Rev. Connie Simon preaches

Rev. Constance M. Simon became the minister of First Unitarian Church of Cincinnati in 2018. She holds a bachelor’s degrees in Telecommunications and a Master’s degree in Telecommunications Regulation. She earned a law degree from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston. Rev. Connie’s diverse career history includes experience as tax counsel for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, working at the corporate level in the telecommunications industry, a position in banking, owning a small business, and time in non-profit organizations. “Every decision was intentional,” she says, all linked by a desire to lead by example and serve others. Rev. Connie received her Master of Divinity from Unitarian Universalist (UU) seminary Meadville Lombard Theological School on May 20, 2018.

Come to hear Rev. Connie’s message today, as well as beautiful music from the Heritage Church Choir.

Worship Associate: Chris Whittaker.
