Fostering Healing Capacities within Justice Ministries.
Presented by Dr. Shelly Tochluk (Mount Saint Mary’s University-Los Angeles and AWARE-LA).
Connections between spirituality and activism are evident within many social justice movements. Often unconsidered, however, is how race plays a role in our beliefs, actions and collaborations. In this free webinar, we will ask: How do we pay attention to spirituality and race simultaneously in our justice work? This is required in order for us to heal ancestral and contemporary racial wounds and build sustainable multiracial coalitions for environmental, economic and political change efforts.
Shelly Tochluk is a Professor of Education at Mount Saint Mary’s University – Los Angeles. She is a member of AWARE-LA (Alliance of White Anti-Racists Everywhere-Los Angeles) and co-facilitates dialogues that leads white people into a deeper understanding of their personal relationship to race, privilege, and systemic racism. She is the author of Witnessing Whiteness: The Need to Talk about Race and How to Do It and Living in the Tension: The Quest for a Spiritualized Racial Justice.
There is no cost for this Webinar, but we ask that you please register so we can send you reminders and Zoom online connection information. You do not have to be in Ohio to participate.
