Through a collaborative effort between the Committee on Ministry and the Board of Trustees, two new part-time professional staff positions are being proposed: a Building Caretaker at 10 hours/week and a Member Services Coordinator at 15 hours/week. These have been added as line items in the proposed budget for fiscal year 2018-2019.
We have heard comments and understand that there is a need to do a better job of serving and strengthening our community. Priorities are: 1) welcoming and integrating visitors and new members, and 2) fostering more connections and deepening relationships within our existing community. We anticipate the benefits of these new part-time positions as serving and supporting our members while helping to strengthen and deepen our relationships.
Building Caretaker – We have been asking quite a lot of a few of our members to be responsible for the care and maintenance of our building. We currently pay an outside company to basically provide surface cleaning. Wouldn’t it be nice to have routine deep cleaning, cobweb removal, window cleaning, etc.? This person would be the primary custodian and caretaker of our building. They would be responsible for routine and deep cleaning, preventative maintenance, minor repairs, identify issues as they arise and coordinate resolutions. We would have a relationship with this staff person who would be expected to take pride in their work and have a personal investment in caring for our building.
Member Services Coordinator – Remember how you felt when you first found Heritage and realized that you fit here, you were comfortable here. Remember the enthusiasm and energy that you felt finding your spiritual home. We want to strengthen and deepen those feelings by fostering and enhancing community relationships. The Member Services Coordinator would serve as that personal touch to help keep people engaged. The Coordinator would be responsible for creating an environment conducive to a sense of belonging and encouraging spiritual growth. They would provide clarity by being the go to person to serve member needs, facilitate interpersonal relationships and deepen connections.
Please consider this proposal seriously when you make your pledge. We have drafts of job descriptions for both of these positions. Please feel free to talk with any member of the Board with questions or feedback regarding these proposed new positions.
