Greetings Heritage Community….and Happy Holidays! It’s that time of year again….how does the year fly by so fast? My wish is that everyone have a meaningful holiday season, take time to slow down, notice and savor the small pleasures, and share in the spirituality of community here at Heritage. Christmas Eve service with Bob Booth singing “Oh Holy Night” is a revered tradition in our family. I hope to see many of you there.
Your Board of Trustees and Committee on Ministry are collaborating to serve you even better. We shared a wonderful brunch last weekend and had very productive discussions. Stay tuned for some exciting new ideas!
I really do regret having to switch gears to our safety and security initiatives. I hope you had a chance to read our email or hear my announcement at church. To reiterate, we certainly wish this was a topic that we did not have to consider, but in light of the violence in our country, specifically in places of worship, we are taking this issue seriously. The kitchen door will now be locked every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and remain locked throughout the service. A Hamilton County Sheriff did a walkthrough of our building and has offered suggestions. HUUC’s leadership committees and teams will be meeting to discuss and develop specific plans. We will, of course, keep you informed with updates.
We are blessed with such a wonderful community here at Heritage, with so many opportunities to connect with each other: Clara Barton Holiday Dinner, Sanctuary Christmas Tree Decorating, Holiday Caroling Party, Vesper’s Service, Gupton-Sanders Open House, and Christmas Eve service. I sincerely hope you are able to enjoy one or more of these gatherings – come and establish a new relationship, deepen an existing one, or just have fun! Enjoy this season and the company of each other. Love is the Spirit of this Church!
Blessings to All,
