First of all, I apologize for not submitting a President’s Corner article last month. We returned from our wonderful trip to Europe on the same day the article was due….and I had not prepared ahead of time. We had a very meaningful experience attending the Prague Unitarian Church Sunday service. Norbert Capek, the Unitarian minister who developed our UU flower communion back in the 1930’s, was from this church. I brought back a water sample and a prayer flag that they made for us. We also made two prayer flags to leave with them from Heritage. It was truly a memorable experience for all of us! [See the pictures at the end of this column. -Ed.]
The Fall Council meeting was held October 8th and how inspiring to hear all the work and goals accomplished by our various teams and committees! The Board introduced our Shared Ministry Goals for the year:
Deepening our connections with each other and The Spirit as we work for justice in the world.
Goals, Plans, Strategies – Developing a roadmap to the future.
We recognized all the social justice work that is being done now and in the future by our community. We then acknowledged, especially in our current culture, that we also need to nourish ourselves so that we have the energy to continue this important work. So, our first goal is just that….to nourish ourselves while we continue to work for justice.
Our second goal recognizes our continued efforts to plan for the future direction (GPS!) of our church. We will again provide opportunities for feedback from everyone regarding our growth and plans for the future.
If you ever have any questions or comments, please feel free to talk with any member of the Board.
In this month of Thanksgiving, I am ever so grateful to be part of this amazing community. You all nourish my soul and I will do my best to serve you well.
