Greetings Heritage Community! I am Donna Buckley, the Board of Trustee’s President for 2017-2018 – and may I say greatly honored to serve in this role. My husband, Mark, and I have been members for 20 years. We raised our two children, Sara and Michael, in this community. We now have 3 grandchildren who have all been dedicated at Heritage as Sara still considers this her spiritual home. I have worked in pediatric clinical research, mostly at Cincinnati Children’s, for over 35 years. I am retiring at the end of this year and look forward to my new phase of life. During my time at Heritage, I have been active in RE and youth group, establishing the Welcoming Congregation designation, the Auction, Care Committee and now Heritage Acres Memorial Sanctuary.
I am so happy to say that Jaime Castle was elected to be the Board Vice President and Heather Wasco to be the Board Secretary. We welcome new Board members Doug Beezley, Jaime Castle and Craig Horton who join myself, Andrea Dale, Louise Lawarre, John Murley and Heather Wasco. I am truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful team!
The Board of Trustees will have their annual Board Retreat August 18-19. It is at this event that we will determine our Shared Ministry Goals for the upcoming year. Last year, we chose three goals:
- Deepen social, emotional, and spiritual connections among people of all ages in our community through shared experiences – we strove to offer and encourage intergenerational events.
- Restructure the stewardship of our community – we started with our new March Money Madness day.
- Begin futuring our community – we started by holding congregational conversations on our growth.
And we completed the task of revising our church constitution! All in all, a pretty productive year.
Keep tuned for this year’s goals as we continue the ongoing work of the church. We are so pleased that the Committee on Ministry is collaborating with us as together we strive to move forward in the best possible ways.
Please know that we are always open to your comments and suggestions. Feel free to talk with any Board member.
Happy August and enjoy the rest of your summer!
