You might weekly work those biceps and triceps at the gym, but what about exercising your brain and soul? Just as there are many forms of physical exercise that require frequent repetition to avoid a weak physique, so are there many forms of mental and spiritual exercise to maintain a robust psyche.
This fall, Heritage UU Church offers a new program to engage the brain and soul. This once-per-month program entitled Topics in Wisdom provides an interactive setting to discuss intense topics with a minimum of participants’ time commitment and/or preparation. Pre-session groundwork may involve as little as contemplating the discussion subject. The session’s discussion may lead your interest in proposed additional readings.
The current program schedule for these Sunday, 7 – 9 p.m. sessions are as follows:
- September 17: What is wisdom?
- October 15: What does character look like?
- November 19: Judgment, can we live without it?
- December 17: Topic to be determined by the group.
This program requires a minimum of six to a maximum of 15 participants to function. As a result, participants must register in advance for this program. If there is insufficient interest, this program will be cancelled by September 10. Slots are available on a first-come/first-served basis. Childcare will be arranged on request.
