A new church year brings with it new beginnings. This year we look forward to welcoming even more newcomers into the growing Heritage family. Did you know that August and September are traditionally the busiest months for “church shopping”? We expect to have many visitors to our sanctuary over the next few Sundays; please help us warmly welcome them!
We have some new initiatives planned for this fall as well. I will be leading a new film series, offering a Spirit in Life group that is specifically designed for newcomers, adding other Spirit in Life groups for those who have been with us a while, and preparing to try out some new things in worship. There will be new, regular adult enrichment classes, and folks are working on rolling out a regular sustainability series to help us learn to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle.
New volunteers will be stepping into significant lay leadership roles, with groups ranging from the Board of Trustees to the Committee on Ministry to the Endowment Committee welcoming many new faces to their teams. We will soon have a new Choir Director, with the departure of our beloved Erin McCamley, who is heading off to do great things in New York City!
Remember that it is our tradition to celebrate the “new year” (and ceremonially complete the summer) with our Ingathering Sunday worship service on the last Sunday of August. Don’t forget to bring the water that you have collected from a place of special significance to you with you to church that morning.
Yes, at this point, there are still a few weeks of summer left – but I look forward to seeing you at church soon, nonetheless!
