Our children and teachers are wrapping up their fall/winter session and are ready to embark on new journeys of faith. Make 2018 the year that you embark on a new faithful journey by teaching RE! Talk to Rev. Leslie or sign up directly on Sign Up Genius.
Here is a brief synopsis of the curricula we will be following beginning in February.
Our preschool group (ages 3 to kindergarten) is continuing activities and stories from Spirit Play. This program is inspired by the teachings of Maria Montessori, offering young children the opportunity to learn about their religious community and tradition, as well as the freedom to discover and express their uniqueness.
Kindergarten & 1st Grade
At the core of our Unitarian Universalist community are our seven Principles. The Principles encompass all the ingredients of a good and faith-filled life based on equality, freedom, peace, acceptance, truth, care, and love. This program explores all the Principles in the context of Beloved Community of family/home, school, and neighborhood using the colors of the rainbow and child-friendly language.
2nd & 3rd Grades
In this program, participants learn to seek guidance in life through the lens of our Unitarian Universalist Sources, with an emphasis on love. Together we ask questions such as, “Where did we come from?” “What is our relationship to the Earth and other creatures?” “How can we respond with love, even in bad situations?” “What happens when you die?” Sessions apply wisdom from our Sources to help participants answer these questions. Participants will learn that asking questions is valued in Unitarian Universalism, even as they begin to shape their own answers.
4th & 5th Grades
Love Connects Us celebrates important ways Unitarian Universalists live our faith in covenanted community. Moved by love and gathered in spirit, we embrace our responsibility toward one another and the world at large. We encourage one another’s search for truth and meaning. We strive to be active in peace-making and other efforts to improve our world. It is truly love that connects us all.
6th, 7th, & 8th Grades
Neighboring Faiths/Building Bridges
Our middle schoolers continue their exploration of world religions through stories, experiences, and visits to places of worship in the greater Cincinnati area. This winter/spring, they will explore Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and other faiths.
