The Board of Trustees is proud to introduce our newest staff member, Erin McCamley, who joins us as our Choir Director this month. Erin will begin working with our Choir immediately, and join in collaboration with Church Musician Les Tacy to from an expanded two-person music staff. Her debut with the Heritage Choir will take place during our intergenerational Thanksgiving Sunday worship service on November 23, 2014. Please be at church to warmly welcome Erin that morning!
Hiring Erin culminates a three-month search process that resulted in a unanimous recommendation by the Choir Director Search Committee, and a joyous and also unanimous vote of approval by the Board. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Choir Director Search Committee: Amy Leirer (chair), Gretchen Elliston, Reid Hester, Kay Inskeep and Kathy Wade.
Erin is a Cincinnati native with deep family ties here. She is a conductor, music director, singer/ songwriter and actor who three years ago turned her passion for songwriting into a Bachelors of Music in Music Composition from the Baldwin-Wallace University Conservatory of Music in northeast Ohio. It was there that Erin also discovered a love for conducting; since then she has conducted pit orchestras, choirs and symphony orchestras around both Cleveland and Cincinnati.
She had the honor of being chosen to conduct the CCM Philharmonia Orchestra for the opera La Cenerentola in the summer of 2013, as well as a Verdi workshop at CCM in October of 2013, and the opera L’Elisir d’Amore this past August. Erin spent last summer in Arezzo, Italy, conducting two operas as part of the “Oberlin in Italy” Intensive.
Currently, Erin music directs at several local high schools, including Anderson High, as well as with the Showbiz Players. She says, “I am ecstatic to become a part of the Heritage community and to work with this wonderful, talented choir!”
We are delighted to welcome Erin to Heritage, and to our professional staff.
