The March installment in our 2017-18 Death Positive Film Series is the Academy Award winning drama “Departures.” Join us on March 30 at 7 p.m. in the Heritage Room for our subtitled showing of this beautifully rendered, touching and troubling film about a young man drawn into the Japanese undertaking profession known as “encoffining.”
Part social commentary, part death-denial critique, part love story and part celebration of life, “Departures” shows American audiences a side of Japanese culture few know about – while also exploring universal truths about life, death, love, family, and what it means to be human.
You can read a typical review of “Departures”.
And here is the trailer.
“Departures” is unlike any movie you have ever seen. Don’t miss this very special opportunity on Friday, March 30!
