In late February, Heritage Church installed a new alarm system. If you are a church key-holder, please be aware of the following changes. Adhering to these suggestions will help everyone breathe easier. There is no need for false alarms or key-holder anxiety!
The four-digit code is unchanged from what it has been for the past several months. You will, however, need to enter an extra number after the four-digit code, upon both entering and exiting the building. Be aware that the keypad is now different, and does not include the alpha-numeric reminders you are accustomed to (e.g., 2 = ABC, 3 = DEF, etc.). Instructions, including a keypad drawing with alpha-numeric characters, is posted above the keypad panel. The instructions in red are to turn the alarm off. The instructions in green are to turn the alarm on.
Also, please be forewarned that the alarm will beep both upon entering and exiting the building. Do not let this “alarm” you! Our new alarm is supposed to beep as you leave. Some find this unsettling, but remember – as long as the keypad reads “Armed: Safe to Exit the Building,” you are fine. To paraphrase the Beatles: Let It Beep. All You Need (to do) Is Leave.
On the flip side, upon entering the building, the beeping should stop as soon as you have properly entered the four-digit code and the extra digit (note: if that sequence doesn’t “take” the first time, we have found that you sometimes have to enter the whole thing a second time). Once the sequence registers, the keypad will read “Disarmed.” You are free to roam around the building!
