Per recent revisions to our church constitution, the Nominating Committee will soon be seeking and selecting nominees for the Board of Trustees, to be elected at this spring’s Annual Meeting on Sunday morning, June 3. The Board of Trustees is made up of seven church members, each serving a three-year term. Three new Board members will be elected this year. If you have a suggestion of someone you’d like the Nominating Committee to consider, please contact Board Vice-President Jaime Castle, chair of the Nominating Committee, at BoardVP@huuc.net, by March 1, 2018.
The Board meets in person every second Monday evening of the month from 7-9 p.m., as well as for additional meetings and retreats throughout the year as needed to facilitate decision-making and administer the work and mission of the church. In addition, the Executive Committee of the Board (which includes the President and Vice-President) meets on the Wednesday evening prior to the Board meeting, also from 7-9 p.m. It is crucial that all Board members be available and responsive to regular (often several times a week) email and other electronic communication, since much discussion, planning and decision-making now takes place online. An awareness of the larger issues facing the congregation, leadership experience, consensus-building skills, and a commitment to the long-term health and well-being of Heritage Church are other important traits in a Board member.
