In “Ode on a Grecian Urn,” Keats wrote, “Beauty is truth, truth beauty,” but you’ll have to read the April 18th Babes with Books meeting selection, The Bluest Eye, to find out if author Toni Morrison agrees. According to an Amazon.com review, this novel is a “powerful examination of our obsession with beauty and conformity. Toni Morrison’s virtuosic first novel asks powerful questions about race, class, and gender with the subtlety and grace that have always characterized her writing.”
The Heritage women’s book club subsequent meetings and selections are as follows:
- May 16: Quiet until the Thaw, by Alexandra Fuller.
- June 20: Young Jane Young, by Gabrielle Zevin.
All meetings are from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Heritage room. All Heritage women and female friends are always invited.
