The Babes with Books (Heritage’s Women’s Book Club) selection for its October 18 meeting has the seasonal sounding title of The Life We Bury, by Allen Eskens. Don’t be fooled by the title, though you might be by the plot. Did a convicted criminal really commit the murder for which he was imprisoned? Or did he commit a different murder, or none at all? Can this hidden mystery be solved before the “criminal” dies of cancer? It is a whodunit with ethical overtones and many plot twists. This reader was sad to see it conclude.
All Babes with Books meetings occur in the Heritage Room from 7 to 9 p.m. unless otherwise announced. New attendees are always welcome, whether or not you have read the book. Our future reads and meeting dates are as follows:
- A Memory of Violets, by Hazel Gaynor, November 15.
- Holiday party and movie (to be determined), December 20.
- The Nightingale, by Kristin Hannah, January 17.
- Change of Heart, by Jodi Picoult, February 21.
