Every month’s third Wednesday night, you might wonder if there is a pack of excited dogs in the Heritage room. Typically, it is just a meeting of Babes with Books. Still, on May 17 the answer might be different as the group discusses Fifteen Dogs by André Alexis. According to Kirkus Reviews, “[Alexis] devises an inventive romp through the nature of humanity in this beautiful, entertaining read … A clever exploration of our essence, communication, and how our societies are organized.”
Moving forward, the currently selected future reads and meeting dates are as follows:
- How We Got to Now, by Steven Johnson – June 21.
- Nine Women, One Dress, by Jane Rosen – July 19
- The History of Us, by Leah Stewart – Aug 16 (Limited copies available through the library)
The July and August meetings will be pool parties at the Rossa and Buckley adobes respectively. Otherwise, all meetings are held from 7 – 9 p.m. in the Heritage room. All women members and friends are invited to attend, whether or not they have read the book. If you have questions, contact Barb Barnes, BWB@huuc.net.
