Sunday, June 3: “Home”

Sunday, June 3: “Home”

Rev. Bill Gupton

Many of us tend to think of Heritage Church as “home.” What does it mean to be “at home”? What is it like to feel “not at home”? What is it about this special and unique religious community that makes folks refer to it as their “church home”? Stick around after this morning’s annual “homecoming” known as our Annual Membership Meeting, and enjoy the feeling of being “home” in our sanctuary as we worship together, complete with special musical guests.

Sunday, June 10: “Discovering my Whiteness”

 Jennifer Ciolino

Our first principle to honor the inherent worth and dignity of every person is core to who we are. In the context of racial equality, how do we know we are living that value? Racism continues to powerfully permeate our society and we want dismantle the institutional constructs. That means we all have to engage in that work in very personal ways that don't show up as marches, protests, proclamations, or financial giving. Join us as one of our members reflects on her own path of racial awareness, her own biases, and how she is continuing to learn and engage in this important work in her daily life.

Sunday, June 17: “What If?”

Sunday, June 17: “What If?”

 Rev. Bill Gupton

What if Emperor Constantine had not embraced Christianity in the early 4th century? What if Columbus had not sailed the ocean blue in 1492? What if the Union had lost the Civil War, or the Allies had lost World War II? What if more people in America – or just some small pockets of America – had voted on Nov. 8, 2016? What if Isaac Newton hadn’t seen an apple fall from a tree (it didn’t actually hit him on the head, BTW)? What if you had turned left, instead of right, on that busy street, all those years ago? This lively and intriguing look at “what ifs” by our Senior Minister might explore alternate realities and parallel universes – or it might not. What if it did?
