Sunday, July 30: “All Roads Lead to Home – the Wisdom of the Labyrinth”

Sunday, July 30: “All Roads Lead to Home – the Wisdom of the Labyrinth”

Kathy Wade. All roads lead to home, whether we are thinking of home metaphorically or in actuality. Over the course of our lives we travel many roads for a variety of reasons… to discover new opportunities and relationships… to find our roots… to escape… to seek rest and re-creation.

Summer finds many of us ‘on the road’ again. Today’s service offers us the opportunity to pause and reflect on the wisdom of the Labyrinth – as a way to travel, practice spirituality, gain new insights as we walk our individual paths – and even to re-discover the Labyrinth in our own front yard at Heritage.

Worship Associate: Suzanne Horton.

Sunday, August 6: “A Mind That’s Free”

Rev. Bill Gupton

Our Senior Minister returns from his summer break to begin a two-part sermon series on “The Head and the Heart.” These two sides of our human (and religious) coin serve us (and the world) best when they are in balance. This morning we will explore the intellectual side, the left brain, the “Unitarian,” the rational. Next week, we will look at the complementary side of the equation.

Worship Associate: Karen Rush.

Sunday, August 13: “The Heart of Our Faith”

Rev. Bill Gupton

Last week we considered “the head” – today we reflect on “the heart.” Our Universalist heritage calls on us to center love in both our personal and our spiritual lives. With love as the spirit of our church, we celebrate life, create community, and seek justice. This morning we celebrate the heart of our faith.

Worship Associate: Chris Whittaker.

Sunday, August 20: “Leveling Up”

Rev. Leslie Woodward

Each August we celebrate (and lament) the end of summer with a worship service honoring our children and youth who are “leveling up” in their school careers. Children/youth entering kindergarten, middle school and high school will be given special recognition. Backpack blessings will also be distributed to everyone. Come join us for this wonderful worship service for all ages.

Worship Associate: Jim Nolan.

Sunday, August 27: “Ingathering Sunday”

Revs. Bill Gupton and Leslie Woodward

Each year, on the final Sunday in August, we celebrate our return to community from the many branching paths we may have taken over the summer. This multi-generational worship service features the first performance of the new church year by our wonderful Choir, as well as our traditional Water Ceremony. If you collected some water this summer, either in your travels or simply from a place of special significance to you, please bring that water with you to church, for the merging of the waters that will represent the unity of our community.

Worship Associate: Shannon Murley.
