It doesn’t change but we do.” This was the popular highlighted quote from Amazon Kindle readers for the novel Transcendent Kingdom, by Yaa Gyasi, the June 21 selection for the Heritage Women’s book club (otherwise known as the Babes with Books or BWB.) The Chicago Review of Books describes this book as “An evocative portrayal of the immigrant experience and an astutely written character study of an individual reconciling with her past, along with her struggle with faith and science.” The Washington Post describes it as “a powerful, raw, intimate, deeply layered novel about a Ghanaian family in Alabama….”
